SealCycle Warranty

Seal Cycles Warranty

Thank you for choosing Seal Cycles.

Seal Cycles provides the following voluntary warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty is provided in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Pedal Bike Warranty

For the original purchaser:

  • Frame: Lifetime Warranty
  • Rigid Fork: 1 Year
  • Suspension Fork: 1 Year
  • Shimano Components: 1 Year
  • Wheelset: 1 Year
  • Other Non-Consumable Components: 12 Months

The Lifetime Frame Warranty applies to the original purchaser for as long as they own the bicycle and covers manufacturing defects in the frame, subject to the exclusions below.

Consumable and wear items, including tyres, tubes, brake pads, chains and grips, are not covered by our voluntary warranty for normal wear and tear.

Unless otherwise stated, all warranty periods commence on the original date of retail purchase shown on the customer’s proof of purchase.

The warranty applies to the original purchaser only and is not transferable.

What Our Warranty Covers

Our voluntary warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship that arise during normal and intended use of the bicycle within the applicable warranty period.

Each warranty claim is assessed based on the nature and cause of the reported problem.

What Our Warranty Does Not Cover

Our voluntary warranty does not cover damage or failure caused by:

  • normal wear and tear;
  • accidents, crashes or external impact;
  • abuse, neglect or misuse;
  • stunt riding, jumping or use beyond the intended purpose of the bicycle;
  • commercial or rental use;
  • improper assembly;
  • incorrect installation or adjustment;
  • improper bicycle fit;
  • inadequate or improper maintenance;
  • unauthorised modification or alteration;
  • corrosion or surface rust resulting from neglect, improper storage or inadequate maintenance;
  • damage caused by using incompatible parts or accessories; or
  • any other damage not resulting from a manufacturing defect in materials or workmanship.

Incorrect assembly or adjustment does not automatically cancel all warranty coverage for the entire bicycle. However, damage caused by incorrect assembly, installation, adjustment, misuse or another excluded cause is not covered by our voluntary warranty.

These exclusions do not limit any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

Assembly and Pre-Ride Checks

Seal Cycles bicycles are supplied partially assembled and require final assembly and safety checks before riding.

The customer is responsible for ensuring that the bicycle is correctly assembled in accordance with the supplied instructions and that appropriate pre-ride safety checks are completed.

If you are not confident assembling or adjusting a bicycle, we recommend having the bicycle assembled or inspected by a qualified bicycle mechanic before riding.

Where a warranty claim involves a possible assembly or adjustment issue, Seal Cycles may request photographs, videos or an independent bicycle shop assessment to help determine the cause of the problem.

Rider Weight Limit

Each bicycle should be used within the maximum rider weight specified for the relevant bicycle.

Unless otherwise stated on the product page, the maximum rider weight for the purposes of our voluntary warranty is 100 kg.

Damage or failure caused or contributed to by use above the specified maximum rider weight is not covered by our voluntary warranty.

Wheelset Warranty

Seal Cycles wheelsets are covered by a 1-Year Warranty against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship, subject to the rider weight limits and exclusions set out above.

Routine spoke tension adjustment or wheel truing arising from normal bedding-in, use or wear is not covered by our voluntary warranty. This does not exclude a manufacturing defect, or damage or misalignment that existed when the bicycle was supplied.

Impact damage and damage resulting from incorrect assembly or adjustment are not covered by our voluntary warranty.

Accessories Warranty

Seal Cycles branded accessories are covered for 12 months from the date of purchase against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship.

Normal wear and tear, misuse, impact damage and consumable items are excluded.

How to Make a Warranty Claim

Please provide where available:

  • your name;
  • original order number or proof of purchase;
  • bicycle model;
  • a clear description of the issue;
  • photographs or video showing the affected area; and
  • any other information reasonably required to assess the claim.

Depending on the nature of the issue, we may request additional photographs, video, troubleshooting information or an assessment from a qualified bicycle shop.

Please do not dispose of, modify or repair a component that is the subject of a warranty claim before we have had a reasonable opportunity to assess it, unless repair is required urgently for safety or we have agreed otherwise.

Assessment and Repairs

If a component is confirmed to have a defect covered by our voluntary warranty, Seal Cycles will, depending on the circumstances:

  • repair the component;
  • provide a replacement component; or
  • provide another appropriate remedy.

Replacement parts may not always be identical in colour, design or specification to the original component. Where an identical part is unavailable, we may provide an equivalent or improved compatible replacement.

Any remedy provided under this voluntary warranty is in addition to any remedy you may be entitled to under the Australian Consumer Law.

Third-Party Inspection and Labour

Unless required otherwise by the Australian Consumer Law or agreed by Seal Cycles in writing before the work is carried out, the customer is responsible for third-party inspection, installation and labour charges associated with making a claim under our voluntary warranty.

If you obtain an independent bicycle shop assessment, please retain the written assessment and any itemised receipts.

Where the Australian Consumer Law entitles you to reimbursement of reasonable inspection, labour, repair or other costs, you may submit the written assessment, itemised receipts and supporting information to support@sealcycles.com.au. Seal Cycles will reimburse reasonable costs where legally required.

Shipping and Transport Costs

Please contact us before returning a bicycle or component.

Unless required otherwise by the Australian Consumer Law or agreed by Seal Cycles in writing, the customer is responsible for shipping or transport costs associated with making a claim under our voluntary warranty.

Where the Australian Consumer Law entitles you to reimbursement of reasonable shipping or transport costs, you may submit itemised receipts and supporting information to support@sealcycles.com.au. Seal Cycles will reimburse reasonable costs where legally required.

Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

The benefits provided by the Seal Cycles voluntary warranty are in addition to any other rights and remedies available to you under the Australian Consumer Law.

Consumer guarantees may continue to apply after the period of our voluntary warranty has expired. Our voluntary warranty does not exclude, restrict or modify those rights. ACCC
